Veterinary services in East Anglia, with a love of all things exotic
Our story
While veterinary services for common domestic pets—like cats and dogs—are easy to find in almost any part of the country, the same sadly can’t be said for exotic animals. Owners of reptiles, birds, fish and small mammals (such as hamsters, ferrets and rabbits) will often struggle to have their animals seen at a typical veterinary practice, instead needing to travel long distances to find a provider that can cater to their animal’s needs.
In 2014, recognising that there were limited options for exotic animal owners in East Anglia, Catherine Thomas established Suffolk Exotic Vets—a dedicated exotics-only practice. During this time, the team would run clinic days seeing exotic animals at various practices around Suffolk.
In 2020, following the success of these clinics and the growing demand for exotic care, it was time to expand—and so a brand new clinic was established, with a permanent location above Wangford Vets that exists solely for patients of Suffolk Exotic Vets. Along with the new space, the team also expanded to welcome new veterinary staff, allowing Suffolk Exotic Vets to see more patients and help more customers.
In January 2024, Suffolk Exotic Vets moved into brand new premises, only a few minutes’ walk away from Wangford Vets and providing us with more space and better facilities to treat our patients.
